Dining on the Danforth has never been this exciting until Globe Bistro opened its doors during the winter of 2006. Before then, all one could find was an abundance of Greek tavernas, plus a couple of sushi bars, neighbourhood pubs, Mexican, Cuban, Italian and Thai restaurants. This strip East of the Don Valley remained pretty standard in dining style for years, attracting mainly locals and visitors wanting Greek food, without expecting much in terms of fine dining experience as it is simply a good place to get together with friends and family.
Within a short period, Globe Bistro started attracting customers who were looking for serious food made from locally sourced meat and produce. From the beginning, Globe has maintained careful attention to quality and presentation, while remaining innovative throughout by featuring unique wild game and foraged ingredients such as wild leeks and mushrooms. Consistently awarded high ratings for both food and service, Globe is on a steady course for a long term position on the Danforth under the capable hands of Ed Ho, the owner, and Adrian Amara - the competent sommelier and manager.
The Bistro is packed most nights with locals and out of town folks, enjoying an atmosphere of cheerful conviviality in an understated, elegant and contemporary setting. There is also a beautiful rooftop patio that offers superb al fresco brunch or dining in the warmer months. Globe is definitely the place that elevated the dining experience in Greektown.
